The 2009 Show Featured ...
Members of the North East Surfcasting Association and the UK Surfcasting Association gave demonstrations and tuition throughout the day. Unfortunately, due to prior competition commitments, they were only able to attend on the Saturday. We are hoping that this popular feature of the Show will take place on both days of the 2010 show - and they will be keeping these dates free for us.

Steve Souter (Planet Sea Fishing) took time from his very busy schedule and travelled from Edinburgh to be at the Show. Apart from his own online fishing magazine and consultancy with Daiwa, Steve is a regular contributor to many sea angling magazines and features on the weekly “Tight Lines” TV programme on Sky Sports. Among his extensive achievements Steve has 40 SFSA & EFSA International Team caps, Home International Gold Medals and CIPS World Championships. He was also the winner of the North of Scotland Sea Championships for 2009. Steve is a very ‘down to earth’ and approachable guy and his demonstrations of rig tying were so popular, it was difficult to get through the crowd to get a picture of him !

Brian Burn exhibited at the Show this year and showcased the new Igloo Beach Shelter from Ian Golds Tackle. This created a lot of interest. |

This shelter can be erected in minutes - even in high winds - and rolls flat for easy transportation. The shelter is adjustable in height - you can even stand up in it - and has Velcro straps to secure rods. |

Kayak fishing is becoming increasingly popular and we were fortunate to have demonstration models on several stands, including P.A. Lynch, Storrar Marine and Trident UK. One unique kayak, which was designed specifically for fishing was brought to the show by Carl Bailey of Black Sheep Kayaks. |

The Freedom Hawk Kayak from the U.S.A. was the only one of its kind in the UK at the time of the Show and we were extremely fortunate to be able to give visitors the opportunity to see at first hand the innovative design of this craft which has adjustable outriggers for stability and allows the angler to actually stand up to cast and fish. Carl travelled to the Show from Newhaven and brought with him Frank Shaw of Carrick Lee Sea Fishing. Together, they were able to demonstrate their professional experiences with the trials of this kayak. |

Vic Young, who are Nissan motor dealers in South Shields had a selection of vehicles on display which are suitable for towing small boats and caravans. They also kindly provided their demonstration model of the superb Nissan Navara to fill a space left by a last minute cancellation. |

The R.N.L.I. Sea Safety were also present at the 2009 Show. Volunteers from the R.N.L.I. Sea Safety were on hand to give vital information and advice and we are grateful to them for giving their valuable time to the show.

Gareth Purnell, Head of Channel, Online Fishing TV brought a good selection of programme videos to the Show. Visitors were able to buy videos and also sign up to be able to access the Online Fishing TV Channel.

Paul Roggeman from the East Yorkshire Events Bureau was on hand to promote the 2010 European Open Beach Championships and to sell tickets for the event.
On the Angling Trust stand, representatives were available to answer questions and to enrol new members into the Organisation.
Representatives from “Get Hooked On Fishing” welcomed new members and gave advice on the promotion of their worthy organisation, which encourages young people to take up the sport of fishing.
Members from the Long Benton & Seaton Burn Angling Club were on hand to give local knowledge on ‘where to fish’ and the best tackle to use. They also signed new members to their club.
Royal Quays Marina, North Shields shared a stand with Amble Boat Company.

On the Storrar Marine stand the Zego two-man small catamaran-type craft drew a lot of visitors to this latest addition to small boat angling.
It looks like a jet-ski and is fitted with an outboard engine, holds two people and has rod holders and a platform on the front for either standing or sitting on. |
The displays of boats were a very popular feature of the show and gave visitors an ideal opportunity to talk first hand with the experts on marinas, launching, handling and all safety aspects of boat ownership.
Amble Boat Company, P.A. Lynch and Storrar Marine had displays of boats both inside and outside the Exhibition Hall. |
|
Trident UK also exhibited a selection of their outboard motors. |

Major Tackle Manufacturers Fox International, Hardy Greys and Shimano UK Limited demonstrated their latest products and were on hand to talk to visitors to the show. We would like to thank them for exhibiting at the North East Sea Angling and Boat Show and for their continued support. |

Boat skippers and sea angling holiday establishments travelled from Southern Ireland for the Show. They were all pleased with the response and have taken bookings for next year. Bella Vista Hotel (Cobh), Dromagowlane House (Beara Peninsula), Bonito Charters (Co. Donegal) and Carraigaholt Sea Angling (Carraigaholt) have all re-booked for the 2010 show.
Last - but by no means least - Billy’s Tackle from North Shields and Rutherfords Angling from Sunderland both had a very successful part in the show. Unfortunately, about four weeks before the show Ian Woods from Morpeth had to cancel due to staffing problems and also North East Tackle cancelled their stand only the day before the show. We are aware that the lack of tackle stands caused a problem for some visitors … but be assured that there will be plenty to see and buy at the 2010 show.
